Information Center of the UNESCO Global Geopark Psiloritis

The Information Center of the UNESCO Global Geopark Psiloritis operates as an information point about the natural and cultural heritage of the area. There, residents as well as visitors can learn about the geological history of Psiloritis, how the landscapes and unique geological monuments they will encounter during their tours in the Geopark were formed, as well as about the close relationship between geodiversity and wildlife! At the same time, visitors can explore the dioramas (cave, mountain ecosystem & mitato, and Anogeian house) and understand how the landscape and natural resources have shaped local economies and traditions in every corner of the Geopark. At the Information Center, there is also rich informational material (brochures, maps) for visitors who want to discover the Psiloritis Geopark through nature trails or in its welcoming villages!

The Information Center is located in Anogeia (ground floor of the AKOMM building), towards the Heraklion exit. It includes informational and educational material, small experimental setups, dioramas, an exhibition of local products from its partner collaborators, as well as a small collection of rocks and fossils from the Geopark area and digital tools. Guided tours are available in Greek and English.
